Happy 20th Anniversary to Lead Self Lead Others, LLC!
Twenty years ago, we had no idea where this journey would take us.
We simply purchased the domain leadselfleadothers.com as a place to share articles Nathan was writing to encourage leaders. Our goal was pretty modest: create some helpful resources, encourage a few people, and perhaps generate a little extra income along the way.
We certainly never imagined that 20 years later, Lead Self Lead Others, LLC would still be going — and stronger than ever.
When Dianne and I look back over these two decades, we can get a little teary. We are incredibly grateful for the success we have experienced, but even more grateful for the relationships, opportunities, and blessings that have come with it. Thousands of leaders have invited us into a small part of their leadership journey, and that is something we will never take for granted.
The Message Hasn’t Changed
As our articles began reaching more people, we realized that leaders were connecting with one simple idea that has remained at the heart of our work:
“If you don’t lead yourself well, you will always struggle to lead others well.”
In fact, just this morning Nathan responded to an executive leader inquiring about a potential coaching relationship with that very same phrase.
Twenty years later, we still believe it.
A Few Milestones Along the Way
As we reflected on the past 20 years, we started counting — and even we were surprised by some of the numbers.
We estimate that we have served more than 3,500 leaders, with approximately 80% of them participating in one-on-one coaching. We have administered 2,849 Birkman® assessments and worked with clients across 15 states and four countries.
But some of our favorite milestones aren’t numbers.
Dianne officially joined the company payroll four years ago and serves as our CFO. Our coaching network, Real Coaching Success, has grown to more than 50 coaches. Our youngest son, Connor, now coaches professionally part-time. Becky, our Executive Assistant, is approaching 11.5 years with us.
We have also been fortunate to continue dedicating approximately 80% of our time and resources to serving nonprofits and churches, something that has always been important to us.
Along the way, we even wrote a book sharing many of the coaching techniques and tools we have developed, with the hope of helping other coaches grow in their own coaching journeys.
Mostly, We Want to Say THANK YOU
To every client who has trusted us with your leadership, your organizations, your challenges, your dreams, and sometimes the difficult seasons of your life — thank you.
It has been an incredible privilege to play even a small part in helping you become a better leader.
We are genuinely humbled and honored that you trusted us enough to let us coach you.
So, What’s Next?

Nathan plans to continue coaching leaders, although he has intentionally reduced his workweek by about half because we have 9 grandkids that need their Pops. In this next season, he wants to focus on opportunities that closely align with his core values and the message that has guided Lead Self Lead Others for the past 20 years.
We also want to create more margin — for family, for life, and for continuing to serve the leaders and clients who are referred our way.
One of Nathan’s newest projects is a podcast called “Finishing Well Conversations.” He has already completed eight interviews with leaders, exploring what they have learned through the different seasons of life and leadership and what it means to finish well. The podcast is available on Spotify, and we’re excited to see where these conversations lead.
Nathan also has a few other ideas and resources beginning to take shape, and we’ll keep you posted as we find new ways to encourage and serve our clients.
So we’re not finished yet.
Twenty years ago, we couldn’t have imagined where this little website and a simple leadership message would take us.
Today, we are simply grateful.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
With sincere appreciation,
Nathan & Dianne Baxter, Lead Self Lead Others, LLC
